LeBron James Remains Focused and Inspirational Amid NBA Shutdown
While the NBA, like many sports globally, is currently on hold, LeBron James is making sure to stand out with his dedication to maintaining peak physical condition. The Los Angeles Lakers’ star is using this downtime to stay in top shape for when the games resume.
Despite being confined to his home, James is adhering to a rigorous personal training regimen. He has been sharing his workout progress with his 63 million Instagram followers, showcasing his commitment through various clips. In one video, James, shirtless and sweating, is seen working with resistance bands in his garden. He follows this up with weight training, focusing on his core and upper body.
James captioned his posts: “All band and core work! Let’s work folks! Who with me??? #StriveForGreatness.”
In a poignant moment, James also took to social media to share a more personal side. He posted footage of himself watching old games featuring himself and the late Kobe Bryant. The clip highlighted a memorable moment from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where James and Bryant were seen embracing after a crucial play in the gold medal game against Spain. Bryant, who tragically passed away along with his daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash on January 26 in Calabasas, California, remains a cherished figure in James’ life and career.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the world, the NBA has reached an agreement with the National Basketball Players Association to withhold 25% of each player’s salary starting May 15 due to the league’s shutdown. This agreement will place the withheld funds in escrow and return them to players if the remaining regular-season games are completed. If only a portion of the season is played, the payout will be adjusted accordingly.
The NBA has been idle since March 11, with no clear timeline for when games might resume.
