Steph Curry Surprises SF Giants’ Single-A Affiliate: An Unforgettable Encounter with the Warriors’ Sensational Star

Steph Curry showed up at a San Jose Giants game Sunday, possibly to get a free Churros cap, but maybe to check out some SF Giants prospects.

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has been a big supporter of the SF Giants before. He pitched in on the recruitment of fellow MVP Aaron Judge. He got a standing ovation just for attending a game in a Giants cap.

Rocklin native Logan Webb even had to wear a Curry jersey to the ballpark after losing a bet on the Kings-Warriors first-round series to Warriors fan Brandon Crawford.

Now Curry is proving that even as an NBA All-Star, he’s not afraid to go down to the minor leagues. Specifically to Excite Ballpark, home of the single-A San Jose Giants, where Curry delighted fans with an appearance Sunday.

Curry showed up to the SJ Giants’ 7-2 loss to the Fresno Grizzlies. He fist-bumped the team, hung out with their mascot Gigante, who was shamelessly promoting his own merchandise during their photo opportunity together.

The Splash Brother also got to see just the second San Jose appearance of 2022 first-round pick Reggie Crawford, who went 1-4 with a double. Curry might disapprove of the percentage, but he had to be inspired by seeing a young guy hit a deep ball.

Curry was also wearing a sweet Churros cap, part of a periodic promotion where the Giants transform into the “Churros” as part of Minor League Baseball’s “Copa de la Diversión” initiative.

Perhaps Curry is aligning himself with the Giants after the Oakland A’s betrayed the city with their abortive attempt to move to Las Vegas. Or he’s embarrassed about his disastrous first pitch last July.

Chef Curry proved he’s truly a man of the people by supporting one of the lowest of the minor leagues. Besides, the San Jose Giants play only 25 miles from Curry’s home in Atherton. And we know Steph Curry likes that the SF Giants’ South Bay home has a really big fence.
