Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant, an experienced player on a team in transition, is likely to be a frequent subject of trade rumors throughout his time in the Pacific Northwest.
Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey proposes a three-team trade involving the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers that would send Grant to Los Angeles. In this hypothetical trade:
Blazers Receive: Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jett Howard, a 2025 first-round pick from Orlando (via Denver), and a top-three protected 2029 first-round pick from the Lakers.
Blazers Give Up: Jerami Grant and a 2028 second-round pick (via Golden State).
This trade could be beneficial for Portland. The Blazers are expected to struggle this season and may be in contention for the worst record in the Western Conference. A player like Grant, who is more suited for a contending team, might not fit their current needs. Additionally, Grant’s contract, which extends through the 2027-28 season with a $36.4 million player option, could be a hindrance for a rebuilding team.
The proposed deal would eliminate Grant’s hefty contract and provide the Blazers with valuable assets, including multiple draft picks, potential upside from Jett Howard, and tradeable veterans like Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt.
Although Portland isn’t urgently looking to trade Grant, this offer, which includes two future first-round picks and a recent lottery pick in Howard, is worth considering. The Blazers could later trade Vincent and Vanderbilt for additional assets. While they might secure a better deal for Grant, this proposal should not be overlooked if it comes their way.
